Guidelines for Hosts

There is a host family chosen to supervise the campout for the weekend. This should not be considered a chore, nor should it be looked at as an undesirable undertaking. These are the guidelines:

  • The campout officially starts on Friday night and the custom is for everyone to "eat out" at one of the local restaurants. The Wagonmaster usually suggests the place; however, if you know a place, suggest it to the group.
  • On Saturday, it is the prerogative of the host family what to do for breakfast. Members will bring their own drink and hosts can either provide "goodies" or ask members to bring something.
  • For the evening potluck, the host should have the tables ready for the dinner and then make sure the tables are cleaned up after the meal. This is not a problem since other members always "pitch in" and get things done.

Anything else you wish to do is extra and not required. It is entirely up to the hosts as to whether they wish to have a craft or to have an activity in the afternoon, etc. Hosts can always ask for help and most members are more than willing to do so. So look at the experience as a great opportunity to have fun with your O-Hi-Lo family!
